Where do values come from?

VALUES are the ideas we have about what is good and what is bad, how we think things should be and specifically, what we deem important. â–  We have values about family and personal relationships, money, sex, work ethic, etc. â–  Our values are usually closely related to our beliefs. â–  We judge ourselves and others based on what we value. â–  Guilt or shame usually occurs when we have done something that violates one of our values or one of our “supposed to” values that someone else has put on us. â–  When we break promises to ourselves, we start to lose trust in ourselves which leads to losing “self confidence.” â–  Trust is the basis of every human relationship -especially with ourselves.
